Applicability
This note explains how to install the hardware key and driver
for Space Radiation Version 5.0 on all Windows systems.
Introduction
The hardware key on Space Radiation 5.0 requires a driver for all
operating system versions including Windows 95/98 which previously
did not require a driver. The driver is included with Space Radiation
in a file called RainbowSSD5.39.2.exe, the latest version available at this time.
You may wish to check for an updated version of the driver at
safenet-inc.com before proceeding.
Installation Steps
-
Remove any existing Rainbow driver from your computer. If you were
running under Windows 95/98, no driver was used. If you were running
under Windows NT 3.5 or 4.0, you will find drivers listed under
Control Panel. (See Hardware Key Installation
on Windows NT for more information.)
-
Run RainbowSSD5.39.2.exe. Make sure the hardware key is not attached to
your computer. This software will identify your operating system and
install the appropriate driver. If you are using Windows NT or 2k, you
will need administrator privileges to install the driver.
-
Reboot your computer.
-
Install Space Radiation by running setup.exe.
-
Attach the hardware key by plugging it into your computer's parallel
port. If a printer is attached, you may plug in the key between the
computer and the printer cable. Multiple keys may be attached to the
same computer without confusion.
